The Best Products for Every Porosity to use for the LOC Method

By now, everyone should be knowledgeable of what the LOC Method is and how beneficial it can be for those with natural hair. But just because you know about it doesn’t mean that you know what products you should use and that could be a problem. Although the LOC Method — which is an abbreviated form of leave-in or liquid (L), oil (O), and cream — can be used on all curlies, the porosity of your hair can change the products needed for application. Here’s a list of the best Aunt Jackie’s products for every porosity to use for the LOC Method.

Leave-In Conditioner

The success for this method starts in the first step. This step will set the foundation for good moisture retention, so you want to ensure that you choose correctly — no matter the porosity of your hair. The Quench — Moisture Intensive Leave-In Conditioner or the Knot On My Watch — Instant Detangling Therapy — which doubles as a leave-in — will be great for this step.

Oil

Anyone who knows a bit about natural hair should know that the type of oil you apply to your hair should reflect the porosity of your hair. If you’re not sure what products would work best from Aunt Jackie’s, here’s a breakdown:

High Porosity:

Nourish My Hair — Flaxseed & Monoi oil

Normal Porosity:

Soft All Over — Multi-purpose Oil

Balance — Grapeseed & Avocado oil

Low Porosity:

Repair My Hair — Argan oil

Balance — Grapeseed & Avocado oil

Frizz Rebel — Coconut & Sweet Almond oil

Cream

Last, but not least, if you’re applying the LOC Method then the cream you use to seal is important, too. For example, if you have low porosity hair, you cannot use the same types of butters or creams that you would use if you have high porosity hair. Need a little guidance? Here are some Aunt Jackie’s creams/moisturizers you can use for the last step:

High Porosity:

Butter Crème — Intensive Moisture Sealant

Seal It Up — Hydrating Sealing Butter

Normal Porosity:

Butter Crème — Intensive Moisture Sealant

Curl La La — Defining Curl Custard

Low Porosity:

Curl Mane-tenance — Defining Curl Whip
